The AIGTP held its 5th annual tournament on Monday in Villamor Air Base, attracting 131 participants.
Association president Connie Mamaril revealed the programs of the organization, including a Golf Fiesta 2020 where top courses and hotels all over the country will give promotional offers during the fiestas in their areas.
Ricky Alegre said that that country lagged behind other ASEAN nations in grabbing a piece of the US$250 billion golf tourism pie because of a lack of a national policy. He said that thankfully, Iloilo Congressman Michael Gorriceta has already filed a bill in the House of Representatives to support Philippine golf tourism. There is support among some senators as well.
AIGT plans to release a golf map of courses in the country was well as promote the game to tourists on social media. (Bob Guerrero)
